RECYCLING AGRICULTURE FILM
Since 2015 we have been working with our manufacturer in Taiwan who takes part in local recycling programs to re-use and re-purpose agriculture film. The film is ground down into plastic pellets that are injected into moulds to make new products.
This process allows us to manufacture 19 products, that otherwise would have solely been produced using virgin materials, which is pretty cool.
We understand that the integrity of products is important when it comes to irrigation and water use, so we use a mixture of recycled and virgin materials for products that can’t be made completely out of recycled content.
Since the program began, we have used 7,500 tonnes of film to make our products, saving it from heading to landfill.

RECYCLING PLASTIC CUPS
Alongside the agriculture film, our ISO 14000 certified manufacturer is also part of a local post-consumer plastic recycling program. This program allows for the collection of plastic cups and bottles, these are turned into plastic pellets used by moulding machines.
We have been able to create 236 products that use a mixture of plastic cup pellets and virgin material pellets. Allowing us to save 1,333 tonnes of plastic cups from not being recycled otherwise.
If you want to learn more about how we calculate the percentage of materials used in our products, visit our section on material breakdown.

RECYCLED WHEELIE BINS
Since 2002 we have been giving broken or faulty wheelie bins a new purpose in life.
In the last year alone, we used over 6,500 tonnes (that’s around 4,600 bins!) of wheelie bins to create sprinkler surrounds at our HQ in Perth. We also keep these surrounds in their pure form by refraining from changing or dying the HDPE to a different colour. Meaning that they are made 100% from recycled wheelie bins.
Our goals as an Australian owned and run business mean that we want to take more time to help Australians, and continue doing so. If you fancy a new home for your pop up sprinkler, you can view our sprinkler surrounds here.
PRODUCT MATERIALS
AUSTRALIAN PVC WASTE
Our new ECO Garden Hose is made here in Australia from Australian post-industrial waste and scrap by our ISO 9001 accredited manufacturer. These materials are used to make the PVC inner and outer walls of the garden hose.
This has allowed us to recycle and reuse over 56 tonnes of PVC waste to make our first ECO range of garden hoses. That’s over 531 kilometres worth of recycled hoses!
HOLMAN ECO FAMILY
MATERIAL BREAKDOWN
All products labelled ‘Holman ECO’ are determined by the percentage of recycled materials vs virgin materials used.
We break down each part of the product by the different materials as this allows us to determine the total recycled percentage by material weight. If the product contains more than 70% recycled materials by weight, it’s part of our ECO family.
We have created our own labelling system to help you easily determine the type and percentage of recycled materials used, and the total recycled content in the product. You can find this on the packaging of each Holman ECO Product.
HOLMAN ECO FAMILY
PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION
Our labelling system clearly identifies calculated data for each product, so you know exactly what you’re buying. We have a few different symbols, and we’re here to help you understand them all. Look out for our Holman ECO logo when you’re shopping to know you’re purchasing a product that contains recycled materials.
TOTAL PRODUCT DATA
This bar shows the product net weight and total recycled material weight. By using this calculation we can determine the final % of the product and if it reaches our 70% baseline.
TOTAL RECYCLED PERCENTAGE
This number shows you how much of the product is made from recycled materials. We classify what kind of materials the product is made out of. I.e., the product is made up of 78% recycled plastic.
PRODUCT ORIGIN
Products with this logo are made here in Australia! Some products we manufacture ourselves, and other products we work with local Australian manufacturers who re-purpose Australian waste.
Delivered to you the friendly way
We are using 100% recycled packaging to ensure no extra waste is being made. So no harm is caused to the environment during the breakdown process, we print using water-soluble inks.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
A few extra steps you can take to help with the recycling chain
Recycle with us! We’ve put together a list of locations that allow you to recycle old watering products, as well as the correct ways to recycle your product packaging.
Because you can not recycle old products or scraps through kerbside pickup, we have put together a list of places you can take these to. Even small steps like these help avoid landfill where possible.
The Holman ECO range uses packaging that is completely recyclable through your kerbside pickup. We use the APCO labelling system to determine the correct disposal methods.
You can add cardboard to compost bins, worm farms and even mulch for garden beds. Our packaging safely breaks down and can easily become part of your home recycling routine.
